Tip 5 — week 45, 2022

What’s this?

These are some of the most interesting and beautiful things that we talked about in our studio this week. We show you the stuff that we have come across on instagram, the web or in real life and that inspires and excites us. And yes, sometimes we mingle in our own projects. We enjoy sharing it with our friends, colleagues and anyone interested. Below this week’s 5 tips, here our collected overview.

1: Figma CC

One of the design tools we’ve been embracing the most over the last few years is the web-based design tool Figma. It’s been really cool seeing an indepedent fight (and beat) giants like Adobe at their own game. Last month though, news hit that Figma sold for $20.000.000.000 to Adobe. Listen to the Decoder Podcast with the excellent (and very direct) interviewer Nilay Patel who asks Figma’s 30 year old CEO everything about this story. Good stuff!

2: Clay a light

Anchor makes light fixtures from clay. And they look sensual, sturdy and sensitive at the same time. Want! (check their Instagram for further process pictures and behind the scenes)

3: Says who?

Game on? OK! Get wordy with Words Against Strangers! Four different quick leagues to test how flexible your vocabulary is compared to a total stranger.

4: Click there

Yehwan Song (or 송예환 for friends) specializes in user unfriendly interfaces. It’s the opposite of what we often are trying to achieve, but it’s great fun to browse her experiments. If her user unfriendly website is a bit of a turnoff, here’s her Instagram ; )

5: Plink along

Plink! is a game for sure, but without the competitive element. You create music with samples and beats in your browser together with complete strangers. Extremely addictive!!
