Tip 5 — week 41, 2022

What’s this?

These are some of the most interesting and beautiful things that we talked about in our studio this week. We show you the stuff that we have come across on instagram, the web or in real life and that inspires and excites us. And yes, sometimes we mingle in our own projects. We enjoy sharing it with our friends, colleagues and anyone interested. Below this week’s 5 tips, here our collected overview.

1: Escalares in full color

Xomatok is a Peruvian artist who works in the visual realm of superstars like Felipe Pantone, but manages to approach art with a style of his own. His Escalares project in Lima, Peru is an impressive pièce de résistance of will and perseverance and celebrates the colors and patterns of traditional blankets and rugs from the Andes. Such a perfect setting for this kaleidoscope of color!

2: Dutchness

There’s nothing more Dutch than the photographs of Jan-Dirk van der Burg. So it was only a matter of time until his exhibition and accompanying book Typically The Netherlands (according to Jan-Dirk van der Burg) were about to happen.

3: Kar if I do

Özgur Kar mixes comics-aesthetics with sound, motion and installations to create slick and immersive works.

4: Lovely mess

The artists Lolo & Sosaku are based in Barcelona and create art with silly machines. “Their” paintings have a sense of Cy Twombly or Willem de Kooning mixed with Theo Jansen and Pierre Bastien.

5: Every Every All

Everything Everywhere all at Once is the kind of movie that is not suited for a simple recap. Beer, nuts, feet up in the air and enjoy (see it at Prime)!
