Tip 5 — week 17, 2023

What’s this?

These are some of the most interesting and beautiful things that we talked about in our studio this week. We show you the stuff that we have come across on instagram, the web or in real life and that inspires and excites us. And yes, sometimes we mingle in our own projects. We enjoy sharing it with our friends, colleagues and anyone interested. Below this week’s 5 tips, here our collected overview.

1: Robot friends

Sri Lankan born artist Kumkum Fernando creates friendly robots from found materials. From his home base in Vietnam, Kumkum and his team scour the streets for found materials – patterns, shapes and colors – to reanimate them into art objects. Currently featuring larger than life at Coachella Festival.

2: Ballin’

How on earth do these work?! Daisuke Samejima is a Japanese artist who takes Google Streetview to the next level.

3: Objects tuning in

There is music in everything. At least, with the playful objects of Hemmo Honkonen. Toooooooooot!

4: Fake logo

Acme, Dharma, Duff, Dunder Miflinn and Spectre. Fake as can be, but most of us know these brands from pop culture history. Two big ones missing in the list: Art Vanderlay - Imports & Exports / Architecture and Pied Piper.
Thanks to Jean for the tip!

5: Slick bakery

South Korea and bread? Yes please! What an amazing space to bake, eat and drink. Sukchulmok did an amazing job (chech their Insta)!
