Tip 5 — week 08, 2023

What’s this?

These are some of the most interesting and beautiful things that we talked about in our studio this week. We show you the stuff that we have come across on instagram, the web or in real life and that inspires and excites us. And yes, sometimes we mingle in our own projects. We enjoy sharing it with our friends, colleagues and anyone interested. Below this week’s 5 tips, here our collected overview.

1: Alpheritage

As designers, alphabets are the brick and mortar of our profession. But to be honest, we don’t know diddly squat about their actual heritage. Thanks to language nerd Rob Words (Rob Watts) we are finally up to par.

2: Colorplay

Colors are magic combined with science. And the Poline-tool let’s you play with color in a nerdy way that is extremely addictive and satisfying.

3: Home improvement

Featured among Sight Unseen’s favorites of the Stockholm Design Week 2023 are WD-DP’s product designs. Pleated for Frank looks pretty cool too, but WD-DP hits most nerves.

4: AIrt

AI is at the cradle of infecting and influencing design, text, image and subsequently art. There’s an enormous movement of artist feeding Midjourney and Dall-e algortihms and adapting the outputs, for instance David Szauder and The Museum of Natural Futures. Cool, mainly form-based and oriented. Interesting to see in what directions these developments are moving...

5: SpYworks

Spanish urban artist SpY creates impressive installations based on very basic ideas. His latest project Monolith transports us back to our VJ-ing days, whereas Colapso is pure baloon poetry 🎈.
