Friday TopFiveDay! #55

Our favorites of week 50

Kern’s cool five

Every week we share a top 5 of the most interesting, coolest, funniest and most exciting stuff that we have encountered on the web and elsewhere. In our studio we have been sharing things that we see around us and that we find remarkable, for as long as we’ve been a team. This way we keep each other informed of the world outside of our personal perspective, because we have a collective hunger for the new.

With this overview we give you some insight into what fascinates us. In addition to projects from clients and self-initiated projects, this is what Jort, Vivian, Jord, and John Patrick are talking about in the studio. Do share this list and let us know if you have any tips!

Nada from the land of Lada

This is a fun Kickstarter to pull your check out for: Blanc. With over $200K pledged of their $16K goal, chances are that they will succeed in bringing these to the streets. Close to 100% filtered protection and close to 0% social interactions for the person wearing it. Embrace dystopia!

Looney backdrops

Much like the equally brilliant Insstagram account Scenic Simpsons the stream of hand-crafted backgrounds from Looney Tunes cartoons is mesmerizing. Especially the abstract graphic pieces (you have to put some effort to find these in the feed).

Car design from way back seems only to get prettier by the year. But the seem to get dirtier too. Good news from these guys who put a plug in them. As long as the Tesla Cybertruck is unavailable, this seems a solid alternative : )

Kindness propagandized

Even in one of the shittiest years in recent history, there’s good vibes to be found. And especially in the UK and USA these come to bloom around Christmas. This ad For John Lewis has a cliche story and they try to shove stuff through your throat as if you were a French goose, just like the next department store. However, the way the story moves through all these different media and styles is pretty cool.

Go, go Alberto!!

We never would have guessed that by the end of 2020 we would have a favorite house painter. It’s all due to this genius little ad of the guy with 18 years of painting experience under his belt: Alberto Schilder!!
