Friday TopFiveDay! #39

Our favorites of week 25

5 jewels in a row

Every week we share a top 5 of the most interesting, coolest, funniest and most exciting stuff that we have encountered on the web and elsewhere. In our studio we have been sharing things that we see around us and that we find remarkable, for as long as we’ve been a team. This way we keep each other informed of the world outside of our personal perspective, because we have a collective hunger for the new.

With this overview we give you some insight into what fascinates us. In addition to projects from clients and self-initiated projects, this is what Jort, Vivian, Jord, and John Patrick are talking about in the studio. Do share this list and let us know if you have any tips!

Play Aldo, play!

Dutch architect Aldo van Eyck truly is a legend. He created more than impressive architecture, he also dedicated a lot of energy on creating playgrounds. Every Dutch kid who grew up in the 60s to 90s spent time on playgrounds that were inspired by van Eyck’s designs; very modernist, minimalist, structuralist areas that spark kids’ imaginations. Graphic designers Anna van Lingen & Denisa Kollarova created the cool map-based site Seventeen Playgrounds. Their Instagram is a treat too!

Play Mosters, play!

Aldo was a visionary maestro. But we have some incredible talent in hour time as well : ) Monstrum leaves less to the imagination, but gets every kid’s heart rate through the roof with their bad ass playgrounds. Fun times on their Instagram as well!

Corporate playground

A lot of big corporations try to connect with the creative industry; Red Bull does (1, 2, 3), Wetransfer does (1), Squarespace does (1, 2), Mailchimp does (1). And there’s 100s more. Wix does too with their Playground. And it’s really fun!

Hit it

Leonardo Ulian makes analog art with electrical components. The aesthetics of his work are extremely pleasing, but the concept is too. Mesmerize on his portfolio or his Instagram.

Canned joy

We are out of office is the studio/webshop run by Winneke and Felix. They sell sweet riso prints and objects. They also just started Toko Waooo, an awesome Instagram account where they collect cool looking packaging designs from all over the world. These somehow go nicely hand in hand with their own designs.
