Friday TopFiveDay! #59

Our favorites of week 6

¡Kern’s cinco loco!

Every week we share a top 5 of the most interesting, coolest, funniest and most exciting stuff that we have encountered on the web and elsewhere. In our studio we have been sharing things that we see around us and that we find remarkable, for as long as we’ve been a team. This way we keep each other informed of the world outside of our personal perspective, because we have a collective hunger for the new.

With this overview we give you some insight into what fascinates us. In addition to projects from clients and self-initiated projects, this is what Jort, Vivian, Jord, and John Patrick are talking about in the studio. Do share this list and let us know if you have any tips!

Whoa, let’s go to Wuppertal! They have a Schwebebahn and it looks bad-ass. Buro Staubach did a redesign of the train’s outside and inside, not too spectacular, just really neat. Who cares, it’s a fricking Schwebebahn!! And not just a fun gimmick that runs 200 meters amusement park-style. Nope: 13,3 km with 20 stations. Let’s go, let’s go!! OK, I guess we can’t go yet, Corona and all. Then at least sit on the driver’s lap for 53 minutes on Youtube (in the old train, but who cares, it’s a Schwebebahn!).

Boxed to go

Food trucks are here to stay. Who knows, they might turn out to be the future of small restaurants after the pandemic. And Walkingboxes are a brilliantly looking clever food truck trailer that fits behind most cars. No need for pimped classic VW vans, this is food trucking for the ’20s! What really speaks to understanding your customers, is the page about financing your food truck. Smart, kind, darn cool!

Hues of bread

Another post about Germany? Why not? They obviously know their way around in design! Berlin bakery Sofi looks exactly what a bakery should look like; quiet, warm, full of craft vibes. Sofi’s interior was designed by Mathias Mentze and Alexander V. Ottenstein in collaboration with Augsburg-based interior design studio Dreimeta. It is not the first modestly styled bakery we feature, remember the Pinocchio Bakery from Japan?

Come on my selector

In the dull atmosphere of a global pandemic, colors lift the spirit. But randomly tossed together colors often get boring, so it’s such a bless for the eyes to click and slide through the Color Selector website by Eugénie Garcia for the sexiest color combinations in design and fashion. Yum!!

Worst Carnaval Ever

Sorry, this is just for our Dutch friends in the south. Good luck Brabanders!
