Friday TopFiveDay! #32

Our suggestions for week 17

Keep the distance, keep being strong.

Every week we share a top 5 of the most interesting, coolest, funniest and most exciting stuff that we have encountered on the web and elsewhere. In our studio we have been sharing things that we see around us and that we find remarkable, for as long as we’ve been a team. This way we keep each other informed of the world outside of our personal perspective, because we have a collective hunger for the new.

With this overview we give you some insight into what fascinates us. In addition to projects from clients and self-initiated projects, this is what Jort, Vivian, Jord, and John Patrick are talking about in the studio. Do share this list and let us know if you have any tips!

Corona, Malona, Balona, Cherona… Are you getting bored yet? We are still very fortunate to have projects that continue despite Corona. Also: next Monday is King’s Day. And today is our own Vivian’s birthday!!! So, if you just try and keep your eyes open, there are still happy things happening. Like this Friday top 5 ; ) Enjoy, the end of isolation is coming!

Feels like coming home

The sound of your partner making noise in the kitchen, the neighbors cooking, kids screaming every afternoon; all sounds you would love to trade for the soothing, comforting sounds of your cherished colleagues. Right? Relax, put on your headphones and click this link.

What we do online behind our locked down doors

Big data can be fun. Yes it can. For instance when you look at all the peaks in people’s interests during Corona lockdown. Blue light glasses? Online Church? Mouse For Laptop?

Wonderful world of Irish travellers

Photographer Joseph-Philippe Bevillard made an incredibly close-up series of portraits of Irish travellers. There is a timeless quality to them, sometimes the only thing that puts the subjects of his images in our time are prints on t-shirts or the brand on a soda can. The pictures are all over the emotional range; from touching to powerful, to poetic, to pathetic, to dirty, to obnoxious. No need for words, just click through them…

Hilariously opinionated

Google reviews. They’re either a scam or extremely hilarious. This Instagram account offers a wonderful collection (sorry, only in Dutch, but here’s a comforting substitute by Bored Panda). It made one of us think of this 24 karats gem for the trash dump in our hometown :-D

Stories on creativity

The nice folks of Wetransfer (one of our most favorite online services) have taken it upon themselves to collect and create a fine series of interviews, portraits and reports on some of the most talented people out there. It’s not all uniquely original, but it is all of seriously high quality. Some must sees are items on Chris Ware, Second Life Toys and We Make Carpets. Dive in and get lost in a world of ideas.
