Friday TopFiveDay! #31

Our suggestions for week 16

Quarantine hot 5.

Every week we share a top 5 of the most interesting, coolest, funniest and most exciting stuff that we have encountered on the web and elsewhere. In our studio we have been sharing things that we see around us and that we find remarkable, for as long as we’ve been a team. This way we keep each other informed of the world outside of our personal perspective, because we have a collective hunger for the new.

With this overview we give you some insight into what fascinates us. In addition to projects from clients and self-initiated projects, this is what Jort, Vivian, Jord, and John Patrick are talking about in the studio. Do share this list and let us know if you have any tips!

In The Netherlands, Corona is still actively going around, it’s spreading but for now over its peak. We are all in suspense about when lockdowns will be relieved, but what’s for sure is that everyday life will remain fragile and uncertain for the foreseeable future. For now we stay in, work from home, keep social distance, and try to get in the mood for more outdoor life in Spring weather. Let’s stay strong and stick together while me must and keep the good cause of preventing ICUs from overcrowding in mind. Stay home, stay kind!!

Adjusting to the new normal?

A lot of people expect that mouth masks will become the new normal in western public life. And mask concepts are popping up all around! One of the most interesting to us is Everymask by designer Roo Williams. He came up with a simple and smart concept complying to NASA’s In-Situ Resource Utilization (ISRU) principle. It’s minimal and bad-ass!

Cooking with Massimo!

Oh boy, quarantine cooking is becoming quite a thing! Although we’re all apart, we’re also all in this together. And the man who’s been kick serious ass in serious cooking on a global scale turns into your cooking buddy. Just follow his splendid lessons on his Instagram account. Mister niceguy and you, cooking together. Yep, life’s still great, even in lockdown ; )

Awesomeness is upstairs.

In previous editions of our Friday Top 5 we’ve made it clear that we love Japan. Well, repetition time, here we go again: WE LOVE JAPAN! Where else would they come up with this simple idea and pull it off on such a spectacular level of awesomeness? Nendo, we love you!

Prank calls with good intentions

In isolation we (should) stand together. And because not everyone is blessed with a socially fulfilling home situation, this app/site is an amazingly sympathetic service: quarantinechat. Get connected with random people and talk. Socialize, laugh, connect.

Tripping weird acid tv

On April 20 Netflix will launch a new animated original series that’s said to be more off the charts than anything else since Bojack Horseman. Cheers to that! The Midnight Gospel is a creation from the minds of Pendleton Ward (Adventure Time) and Duncan Trussell (Duncan Trussell Family Hour podcast) and boy does it look promising!
