Friday TopFiveDay! #29

Our suggestions for week 13

Stay at home Friday (and every day)!

Every week we share a top 5 of the most interesting, coolest, funniest and most exciting stuff that we have encountered on the web and elsewhere. In our studio we have been sharing things that we see around us and that we find remarkable, for as long as we’ve been a team. This way we keep each other informed of the world outside of our personal perspective, because we have a collective hunger for the new.

With this overview we give you some insight into what fascinates us. In addition to projects from clients and self-initiated projects, this is what Jort, Vivian, Jord, and John Patrick are talking about in the studio. Do share this list and let us know if you have any tips!

Here in The Netherlands we are at the end of week two of working from home in the middle of the Corona mayhem. Still working for our fantastic clients who keep their spirits high and their eyes focused on the horizon. Keep the distance, stay in as much as you can and hang in there folks! We’re all in this together, let’s stick together. Our top 5 will focus for the time being at things to do at home.

Like watching Bob Ross

Take a break from social media, constant bad news floods and turn to some good vibes. Get a sheet of paper out, some pencils and get in synch with Brian James Fitchner: draw Donald Duck.

Designers live at home

A lot of designers admire other designers. We’re no exception to that rule : ) This Instagram account has live broadcasts everyday from the homes and studios of inspiring designers and other creatives. Yesterday’s session by Rejane dal Bello was great; she showed her sketch books and processes for some really top notch projects she did. There will be an archive some day, for now just tune in daily. Excellent project by Ag office!

That’s Jaimie, not Jamie.

Cooking may be more central in your daily program now that you spend all the time at home. Chef Jaimie van Heije posts great videos with recipes and preparations on his Instagram feed. Among which his version of Shakshuka (!!). Check out his Instagram highlights for a whole bunch of excellent meals.

Coding with Tim

German programmer Tim Rodenbröker is a creative coder who makes fun videos in which he teaches you to code in Processing. Like this one that explains how to rasterize an image in 3D. While at home, why not make the best of it and learn some new skills?

Stay safe

This is a cool project by Dutch studio Lennarts en de Bruijn and Overdeschreef. They put an open invitation to graphic designers online to create poster designs explaining to the world that everybody should stay the fuck inside. A good cause and some pretty cool designs on top of that. Right on!

Put on your headphones and experience some really over the top stereo effects in this remixed Billie Eilish track…
